Norwegian Wood is a beautiful book with lots of depth. The book tells us the story of a young man. It’s about how someone’s suicide can influence the further life of loved ones, about a lost soul mate. An important subject is the existence of people for whom life is too difficult (too much pressure, too much pain). We discover that help cannot always protect the vulnerable.
The internal struggle of the main character also controls the story. We learn that loving two women, two opposites, can be a hard battle. Especially when you want to induce your livelier side, which you can become when you choose to focus on the happy woman, but you cannot let go the other woman who “embodies” the dark side of life
In my opinion, it is a story worth reading because there are many moments where the surface is left behind and where the characters dig deeper into themselves and the difficult. You feel a strong sense of connectedness, there is despair but also hope.
